It’s 2:00 PM, your energy is dipping, you can’t stop thinking about that second or third cup of coffee… We’re here to help! If you are like the average person, you are spending more time at a computer screen than you do asleep. (You may actually be a victim of tech neck or low back pain caused by poor sitting posture)
While computers and smart phones are supposed to make us more productive, they can often lead to stress and pain in our bodies. Not to mention that sitting for prolonged periods of time is linked to an increased risk in a number of health concerns – including high blood pressure, unhealthy levels of blood sugar, excess body fat, and abnormal cholesterol levels.
All of which can prevent us feeling our best and ultimately keep us out of the office!
What can we do to feel better while we work? Your health and wellbeing aren’t priorities that are exclusive to hours outside of your workspace. Health is a round-the-clock job that is linked to both your happiness and productivity.
It’s important to get up and move. Period. We challenge you to join us in a two-minute turnaround with a quick in-office workout to promote blood flow, increase circulation, and expand range of motion.
Exercise also boosts cognitive function and is a great team building opportunity. So, recruit your colleagues and make it a daily practice!
Here, our lead Chiropractic Physician at our Lincoln Park clinic, Dr. DiMaggio, DC suggests this quick set of exercises to complete at your desk when you need a boost of energy!
- 1 set of 10 squats
- 1 set of 10 hip hinges
- 1 set of 10 lateral twists for Thoracic rotation (on each side)
- 1 set of 10 cross body Rhomboid stretches (on each side)
- 1 set of 10 levator scapulae stretches (on each side)
With time, you can minimize work-related back pain and eliminate many of its causes. However, you may want to work with a professional in Chiropractic Care and Physical Medicine if you’re currently experiencing pain or debilitating symptoms. Working with a Chiropractor can help you eliminate underlying causes and bring immediate relief so you can return to feeling like your normal self sooner.
