Q&A with Dr. Kikilas

What are you most passionate about professionally? Personally?
Professionally, I am passionate about not only getting patients out of pain, but helping them take control of their symptoms and teaching them ways to prevent injuries in the future. I love when my patients leave the office feeling confident that they can return to their favorite activities.

What three traits define you?
Compassionate, Dedicated, Hardworking

What’s the biggest proof that you’re good at what you do?
The biggest proof is the happiness my patients feel when they complete treatment and the confidence they have in themselves to stay pain free and prevent future injuries.

How long have you been working in your field?
I have been working in this field for three years. I started as a rehab tech when I was in graduate school. I took patients through exercises and educated them on proper form and techniques. After graduation, I began working as an associate chiropractor and have been a chiropractor now for two years.

What’s the weirdest job you’ve ever had?
In high school, I worked at a sports store where I had to do things such as build trophies, heat press jerseys, work in the sewing department, fit athletes for uniforms, and work at the cash register. I learned a vast amount of information on sports equipment and always had to stay on top of the newest trends.

What are you complimented on most in your work?
My attitude. To me, smiling and laughing is very important. Patients have always told me that my smile, laughs, and jokes have helped put them at ease.

Who is your ideal client and why should they connect with you?
I truly enjoy working with athletes. They are always pushing their bodies which imposes an extra challenge as a physician to get them better and back to competing as soon as possible. As an avid runner and former athlete, I know the importance of getting back to pre-injury status and focus on preventing injuries from occurring in the future.

What do you do for fun in your spare time? What are your hobbies?
In my spare time, I enjoy running and spending time outdoors. Running outside has always been the best way to clear my mind. I also love visiting new places, especially national parks and hiking various terrains.

Share something unique that most people don’t know about you.
For the past few years, I have baked cakes for my nephews’ and niece’s birthdays in the shape of their favorite characters. My favorites have been mini mouse, a princess castle, Pikachu, Toad from Mario Kart, and a dinosaur. The cakes usually take a few hours to make, but are worth all of the time and energy to see how excited they get when they get to see their special cake.
