Hormone Health appointments may be available virtually or in clinic, depending on your location, provider licensure, clinical needs, and applicable regulations. Aligned Modern Health offers in-person care at select clinic locations and virtual care in eligible states. Virtual availability varies by state and provider, and some care may require in-person testing or examination. Coverage varies by plan, visit, laboratory, and medication. Confirm appointment options and insurance benefits before beginning care.
Aligned Modern Health is in-network with many major insurance plans, and coverage for hormone replacement therapy may vary based on your specific plan and clinical needs. Our team is committed to transparency and will help you understand how coverage applies to testing, treatment, and ongoing care.
Hormone therapy is a broad term for treatment using prescription hormones. Bioidentical hormone therapy refers to hormones chemically identical to those the body makes. Some bioidentical estradiol and progesterone products are FDA-approved, while custom-compounded products are not. Your provider can explain which options are appropriate for you.
The right pathway depends on your symptoms, life stage, health history, and clinical findings. Women experiencing hot flashes, cycle changes, night sweats, or vaginal symptoms may begin with menopause and perimenopause care. Men experiencing reduced libido, sexual symptoms, persistent low energy, or loss of strength may begin with a low-testosterone assessment. If you are unsure, a Hormone Health appointment can help identify the appropriate next step, including testing when clinically useful.
Hormone therapy may be appropriate for carefully selected patients, but no treatment is risk-free. Safety depends on the type of therapy, your symptoms, health history, age, treatment timing, dose, route, and follow-up care. For many healthy women younger than 60 or within 10 years of menopause onset, the benefits may outweigh the risks when treatment is clinically appropriate. Your provider will discuss the considerations that apply to you before recommending treatment.
Eligibility depends on the type of hormone therapy and your individual health history. Factors such as certain cancers, cardiovascular or blood-clotting risks, fertility goals, untreated medical conditions, abnormal blood counts, and other clinical concerns may affect whether treatment is recommended. Because BHRT and TRT have different eligibility and safety considerations, your provider will review the factors relevant to the specific therapy being considered.
Monitoring schedules vary based on the medication, your diagnosis, your response, and your health history. Follow-up may include a discussion of symptoms, checking for side effects, a physical exam, and lab testing at clinically appropriate intervals.
Coverage varies by insurance plan, service, lab, and medication. While most major insurance plans don’t cover all costs of hormone therapy, bloodwork and visits may be covered. All hormone therapy services are FSA/HSA eligible. Contact the care team for current insurance and cost information before scheduling.
