Q&A with Dr. Tracey

What three traits define you?

Empathy, Responsibility, Learner

What would you do even if you didn’t get paid to do it?

Eat my way through Italy :)

What are you surprisingly good at?

Parallel parking, ice hockey

What is one thing you couldn’t live without?

My heating pad!

What’s the weirdest job you’ve ever had?

One of my first summer jobs when I was fifteen was working at an ice cream stand attached to a gas station. I was the ice cream cone mascot (dressed in a giant, inflatable ice cream cone costume) dancing on the curb to Beyoncé all day. It was both the weirdest and best job I’ve ever had!

What is the biggest proof you’re good at what you do?

Hearing my patients, friends, and family advocate for Traditional East Asian Medicine.

What problems do you consistently solve for your clients?

Problems I consistently see acupuncture solve for my patients are chronic pain, chronic stress/anxiety, gastrointestinal conditions, migraines, menstrual conditions, fertility challenges, pregnancy/postpartum/perimenopausal symptoms, hormone condition symptoms, vertigo and insomnia.

What are you most passionate about professionally? Personally?

Professionally: Patients feeling empowered and educated about their healthcare options. Meeting patients where they’re at. I feel passionate about working in reproductive, LGBTQ+, and mental health. Personally, I feel passionate about learning new things / ways of relating and finding the best donut in Chicago. ????

What are you complimented on most in your work?

My bedside manner.

How does your education connect to your professional career? What about personal experiences?

Personally, studying Psychology and Women, Gender, and Sexuality studies in undergrad has helped me better understand myself and others. Professionally, it impacts the way I practice every day by helping me be a better listener and collaborator in patients’ health journeys. My doctorate in Traditional East Asian Medicine holds me accountable in respecting acupuncture and the people/culture it comes from. It reminds me that I will forever be a humble student of this medicine, and that human health is directly connected to the health of our planet.

Who is your ideal client, and why should they connect with you?

Anyone with a beating heart! Everyone can benefit from acupuncture & Traditional East Asian Med. But if I were to be specific, someone who is ready to get more in-tune with their body and mind.

What do you do for fun in your spare time? What are your hobbies?

Yoga, nature walks, trying all of the best food in Chicago with my partner, seeing live music!

What is something most people don’t know about you?

I lived abroad in Thailand for 7 months studying sustainable development and ecology! I also did an internship there working with an OBGYN who did house visits caring for postpartum moms. In Thailand I received acupuncture weekly to help my mental health and have been in love with the medicine ever since.
