About Eric

Eric Schrock, L.Ac, MSTOM is a graduate of Pacific College of Health and Science in Chicago, one of the leading schools for acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine in the United States. This four year program provided him with the necessary training to treat a wide variety of imbalances including pain, insomnia, digestive concerns, menstrual irregularities, and many others using acupuncture, herbal medicine, and lifestyle recommendations leading his patients to a healthier, more balanced life.

Eric began his passion to help others in 2011 when he witnessed a powerful event that lead him to change his lifestyle and outlook on being. He began studying Buddhist meditation and decided to volunteer for a year in Kenya. Here he worked with community development groups teaching in primary schools and providing computer training to local adults.

Wanting to do more when he returned, Eric became interested in Chinese medicine. After receiving multiple successful acupuncture sessions, he began researching the wide scope of possibilities this medicine has to offer.  Without hesitation, Eric then committed the next four years of his life to study. Since then, he went on to help thousands of people around the world working on cruise ships before he made his way back to land.

What are you most passionate about professionally? Personally?

Professionally my number one goal is to heal my patients. I love seeing amazing results on a daily basis and this drives me to become a better practitioner. I get excited about learning new approaches to healing and the beautiful thing about this medicine is that there is no limit to growth.

Personally I love to be physically active and travel. Seeing new places and meeting new people, I believe, are some of the best ways to keep an open heart and mind.

What three traits define you?

Compassionate, Motivated, Excitable

What would you do even if you didn’t get paid to do it?

I do a lot of things I don’t get paid to do.. Acupuncture, guitar, travel

What are you surprisingly good at?

I guess for my age and only messing around once in a while, I’m pretty good at skateboarding. It used to be one of my passions and I can still lay down some flip tricks pretty well.

What’s one thing you couldn’t live without?

Real Japanese Ramen

What’s the biggest proof that you’re good at what you do?

People consistently return to see me. By providing real results with acupuncture, patients return. It wouldn’t be that way otherwise.

What’s your biggest accomplishment?

In life? I would have to say graduating from PCOM. I was never an outstanding student, and my parents would agree with that 100%. It wasn’t until I found this medicine that I took my studies seriously. I did very well there and enjoyed every minute.

What’s the weirdest job you’ve ever had?

I’ve worked pretty normal jobs I guess. From delivering sandwiches to working in a specialty running store, I’d have to say the most “out there” one was working on a cruise ship. My job was an acupuncturist but my treatment room was always moving back and forth.

How does your education connect to your professional career? What about personal experiences?

My degree from PCOM gave me the opportunity to study under some really great professionals with lots of experience. They gave me skills and directed my thought process to be open and willing to approach a patient using multiple techniques.

My education allowed me to meet like minded people and create life long bonds to some of the most caring and interesting people I have ever met.

What problems do you consistently solve for your clients?

Pain and stress. Many times these are directly linked and coming in to treat one usually means you go home with a bonus.

What are you complimented on most in your work?

Being professional but also relaxed and caring.

Who is your ideal client and why should they connect with you?

Really I like to see anyone. If people want to heal, I’m here. It’s pretty cool to see a patient who has never tried acupuncture. Usually they’ve heard something from a friend or relative and decided since their other avenues haven’t brought them much success, acupuncture can’t hurt. And then when they see the results and get as excited as me, I know I’ve changed someone’s life.

In your work or creative process, what concepts are sacred? Which rules have you made, which ones do you follow?

Listen to the patient and be safe. To solve a problem, I have to pay attention. Also, as in any other form of medicine or therapy, acupuncture can have risks. My rule is to simply avoid them. I went through extensive training on practicing safe techniques and I stick by them.

What is your grand, audacious goal? What do you wish people would know, believe, do?

To get to Bhutan to visit a friend and do a long meditation retreat. It’s not so hard to travel, but to go across the world to live in a monastery for a while.. I don’t think I’m there yet.

I really just want people to be open minded. Pay attention to all the noise in our heads and realize we’re all going through something.

What do you do for fun in your spare time? What are your hobbies?

I like to keep active by running outside. Reading is really important to me. So is meditation.

Share something unique that most people don’t know about you.

I was never a competitive runner or anything but one time I ran a half marathon in an hour and twenty two minutes. I was pretty proud of myself.
