Dr. Helena Para is one of our acupuncturists at Aligned Modern Health River North. Helena completed her undergraduate education at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Cellular Biology. She went on to earn both her Master of Science in Oriental Medicine as well as a Doctorate of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine from the Pacific College of Oriental medicine in Chicago.
Dr. Para has been practicing in Chicago since 2016, specializing in the treatment of infertility and women’s health. Dr. Para also works as a general practitioner, regularly treating chronic/acute pain, insomnia, anxiety, depression and digestive disorders. She is also certified in Acuregen cosmetic acupuncture.
Dr. Blake Butler is a Functional Medicine provider at Aligned Modern Health River North and Wicker Park. Dr. Blake Butler graduated with honors from Logan College of Chiropractic. He has extensive postgraduate training in functional medicine, blood chemistry interpretation, brain chemistry, thyroid function, and functional endocrinology. Dr. Butler specializes in regulating blood sugar, thyroid dysfunction, GI imbalances, and adrenal dysfunction. He places a strong emphasis on patient education and believes that diet and lifestyle play an important role in achieving optimal health and promoting chronic disease prevention.
Prior to joining Aligned Modern Health, Dr. Butler had a private wellness practice in Fayetteville, AR with his wife Dr. Anna Butler. He provided functional medicine, chiropractic care, and partnered with a local registered dietitian to promote patient-centered care.
Sue Smith, LDN – Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist
Sue Smith, MS LDN, is a licensed dietitian nutritionist with a passion for healing through proper diet, nutrition and lifestyle. She earned a Master’s degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut. Previously, she received a B.S. from Benedictine University in Lisle, IL with a major in biology and a minor in secondary education. She has worked at several clinics doing nutritional counseling throughout the western suburbs of Chicago.
Sue was inspired to become a nutritionist because of her own health issues due to a diagnosis of lupus which was reversed with functional medicine, nutrition and supplements. She is passionate about helping others renew their health through a healthy diet. Sue takes a wholistic and personalized approach with her clients while allowing her clients to go at their own pace. She understands the importance of diet, nutrition and lifestyle in the reversal of symptoms towards the goal of optimal health. In her spare time, Sue volunteers as a raptor handler at a wildlife rehabilitation and education center in Glen Ellyn, IL.
