Low Testosterone

What is Low Testosterone?

Low testosterone (low T) happens when the body doesn’t produce enough testosterone to support energy, mood, metabolism, and sexual health. At Aligned Modern Health, we look beyond symptoms to find why levels are low and create a plan that helps you feel like yourself again.

Testosterone helps regulate energy, mood, muscle mass, body composition, libido, erectile function, red blood cell production, and overall vitality. Levels naturally decline with age, but they can drop earlier due to stress, sleep disruption, metabolic issues, certain medications, or underlying medical conditions. Our approach focuses on the root cause and whole-body health, not just a number.

Common Low Testosterone Symptoms We Help Solve

Our providers work with patients every day to uncover why testosterone levels drop and what to do about it. These are some of the most common symptoms we help address:

  • Low energy, afternoon crashes, or persistent fatigue
  • Reduced libido, erectile dysfunction, or fewer morning erections
  • Low mood, irritability, or loss of motivation
  • Increased body fat, decreased muscle mass, or slower recovery
  • Brain fog or trouble concentrating
  • Poor sleep, snoring, or suspected sleep apnea
  • Decreased exercise performance or drive

These symptoms can overlap with thyroid issues, sleep apnea, nutrient deficiencies, depression, and metabolic syndrome. A careful workup prevents missed or misdiagnoses.

How We Approach Low Testosterone

At Aligned Modern Health, we take a root-cause approach to low testosterone that blends advanced diagnostics, personalized lifestyle guidance, and physician-led treatment. Our Functional Medicine and Hormone Health teams work together to find why your levels are low and build a plan around it.

Functional Medicine

  • Comprehensive lab testing including morning total and free testosterone, SHBG, LH/FSH, estradiol, thyroid panel, and metabolic markers
  • Screens for overlapping causes such as thyroid dysfunction, sleep apnea, anemia, and nutrient deficiencies before treatment decisions are made
  • Personalized plans covering nutrition, resistance training, sleep optimization, stress care, and metabolic health

Hormone Replacement Therapy

  • Physician-led, monitored testosterone replacement therapy when clinically appropriate
  • Evidence-based protocols with regular labs and follow-up visits to keep care safe and effective
  • Ongoing plan adjustments as your body responds, focused on lasting results rather than a quick fix

The Hidden Impact of Low Testosterone

How common is low testosterone?

38.7%

In a landmark study of more than 2,100 men aged 45 and older visiting primary care practices, 38.7% had low testosterone. Many never connect their symptoms to a treatable hormone imbalance.

How quickly do testosterone levels decline?

1% per year

After age 30, a man’s testosterone typically drops around 1% per year. Gradual decline is normal, but steeper drops driven by stress, sleep, weight, or medical conditions are worth investigating.

How many men with low T actually get treated?

Fewer than 1 in 10

In the same primary care study, of 836 men found to be hypogonadal, only 80 were receiving testosterone. Symptoms are often dismissed as normal aging instead of being tested and addressed.
