What Techniques Are Used and How Does It Benefit?

Prenatal massage is designed to be flexible enough to address both the general taxing of the body that comes with all the internal hormonal changes as well as all the aches and pains that come from the physical changes to the bony and muscular structure.

Many of these changes are a result of an increase in relaxin. Relaxin is an important hormone with multiple functions during pregnancy. One of those functions allows the ligaments to become more elastic so the pelvis can open up for child birth. This makes the pelvis less stable and the surrounding muscles will want to stiffen a bit to provide some stability. This is one of many changes that your prenatal massage therapist will be prepared to address.
