Cupping Therapy at Aligned Modern Health

At Aligned Modern Health, cupping therapy is offered as a modality within our acupuncture services, used by licensed acupuncturists as part of personalized treatment plans.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping therapy is a popular and effective healing technique that is offered within our acupuncture services. Cupping can be used to address a broad range of symptoms and pain relief.

How does cupping work?

The technique works when cups are placed on the skin to create a vacuum effect. Placement is often on the back, neck, and shoulders – near the site of pain.

Cupping therapy works to promote healing by increasing blood and loosening the fascia and connective tissue within the affected area. Below the surface, cupping creates a vacuum that draws stagnant blood and other fluids away, so that healthy circulation can be restored.

What does cupping feel like?

Cupping is an all natural treatment. Aside from temporary blemishes, it has minimal side effects. Most recipients describe cupping as “relaxing” and may liken it to a feeling similar to deep massage.

Working with an experienced provider

Cupping should only be administered by an experienced, trained professional. At Aligned Modern Health, our team of acupuncturists hold a Master’s degree or Doctorate in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine from the top educational institutes in the world.

Upon your appointment request, we will match you with an acupuncturist who will help customize your treatment plan to consider all aspects of your life and wellness goals.

How Cupping Fits Into Acupuncture Care

Cupping therapy is one of several hands-on techniques our licensed acupuncturists may use as part of a broader acupuncture treatment plan. Rather than being applied in isolation, cupping is selected based on an individual’s symptoms, physical exam findings, and overall care goals.

Within acupuncture care, cupping is often used to support circulation, reduce muscle and fascial tension, and address areas of stagnation that may limit movement or contribute to pain. It may be used alongside needle-based acupuncture, manual techniques, or other supportive therapies to help the body respond more effectively to treatment.

Because cupping is delivered within an acupuncture visit, it is always guided by clinical judgment and adjusted over time. This integrated approach allows care to remain targeted, responsive, and aligned with how a patient’s symptoms evolve, rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all technique.
