About Dr. Phillips
Marina Phillips, DC, MS, graduated with her bachelor’s degree in Health and Human Physiology from the University of Iowa. Her family chiropractor inspired her to become a chiropractor herself. She went on to receive her Doctorate in Chiropractic at Cleveland University. She became interested in functional medicine and nutrition through her own health journey prior to chiropractic school so she began the Diplomate of the American Board of Chiropractic Internist (DABCI) certification while in chiropractic school. She wanted to expand her knowledge in the field of functional medicine, so she went on to University of Western States where she completed her master’s degree in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine while practicing in Omaha, Nebraska.
Marina’s practice specializes in integrative and functional medicine in which she enjoys working with a diverse patient population. Her passions include gastrointestinal health as well as women’s hormones.
Marina is a board-certified chiropractor and functional medicine practitioner in the state of Illinois and Nebraska.
Q&A with Dr. Phillips
What’s your biggest accomplishment?
Pursuing my Master’s while starting a practice from the ground up with my husband who is also a chiropractor!
How does your education connect to your professional career?
What about personal experiences? I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma a week before starting chiropractic school. I utilized my own knowledge about health and eating well to feel the best I could while undergoing treatment. I truly believe that I was supposed to go through that myself in order to help others. This experience drove my interest in functional medicine and my passion to help others through their own health journeys!
Where do you live?
Do you have any family members or pets to include in your bio?
A Golden Retriever puppy named Bear and a husband named Kyle!
Do you have any other passions of personal goals that you would like to share?
I would love to finish my DABCI cert! I was on track to finishing prior to graduating from chiropractic school but COVID foiled that plan!
What do you do for fun in your spare time? What are your hobbies?
I enjoy working out with my husband, golfing, reading, volunteering a cancer clinic weekly
