Q&A WITH DR. GLOWIAK

What are you most passionate about professionally? Personally?

I am most passionate about the food-as-medicine concept! I personally enjoy cooking and eating fancy, nutritious foods. Learning to cook simple whole foods can significantly shorten patients’ time to recovery from chronic diseases.

What three traits define you?

Three traits that define me include compassionate, honest, and enduring. I strive to show every person compassion for where they are at in life’s journey. I am honest about my clinical impressions and try to be complete in providing patients with the instructions needed to return them to health. Enduring has two meanings: first, I do not easily give up until I get the results I am looking for, and second, I have great patience and will continue to stand by those committed to improving their life even if progress is slow.

What would you do even if you didn’t get paid to do it?

Educating patients is the key to empowering them to succeed in their health goals. Even if I weren’t paid specifically to educate, I would make sure that I spent the time to convey the best information available to make their transformation a success.

What’s the biggest proof that you’re good at what you do?

The biggest proof that I am good at what I do is the changes I have seen in my patients’ lives. I credit them for doing the necessary work and I enjoy the synergy in the relationships that we build.

Who is your ideal client and why should they connect with you?

An ideal mindset for a patient under my care to adopt consists of willingness to apply new lifestyle suggestions, a healthy curiosity about the science of healthy living, and a deepening awareness of the sensations that they experience within their body. These three dispositions seem to lead patients to their desired change, time and time again.

Do you have any other passions of personal goals that you would like to share?

Throughout my education, I have fallen in love with research, especially digging deep into the articles on PubMed.gov. One of my future career interests would be to help develop new supplement formulas for a major supplement company. It would also be fun to then run clinical trials with the supplements that I recommend. In this way I would contribute to the advancement of new natural therapies, in order to relieve suffering on a larger scale.

What do you do for fun in your spare time? What are your hobbies?

Ever since my involvement in Boys Scouts of America, I have had a great appreciation for camping and hiking, in order to get closer to nature. Forests, mountains, lakes and rivers are among my favorite places to reflect and regroup. The images, sounds and smells feed my spirit in ways that I cannot fully express.

Share something unique that most people don’t know about you.

Although my background is Christian, I have an interest in reading about Eastern philosophy and meditation. I have attended several zen centers and participated in sitting mediation on an extended retreat, which has taught me more about mindfulness. I feel that spirit and mind are important components to lifelong wellness.
