About Dr. Cherniak

Dr. Dean Cherniak, D.C. is a 1991 graduate of the University of Wisconsin where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and Health Sciences.

Dr. Cherniak earned his Doctor of Chiropractic in 1998 from the National College of Chiropractic. He has also completed post-graduate studies in pediatrics, spinal correction and rehabilitation, nutrition, strength and conditioning, pain management and utilizes “hands on” manual and Activator Protocol adjusting and other instrument techniques. In 2008, Dr. Cherniak received his certification in Sports Medicine and has since worked with athletes of all ages and competition levels. Dr. Cherniak continues to stay abreast of the current research in chiropractic and source of information for the community on current health issues.

A native of McHenry County, Dr. Cherniak grew up in Cary, attended grade school at Prairie Grove School. He is a 1987 graduate of Crystal Lake Central High school. He has three children and currently lives in Woodstock. He feels very strongly about getting children under chiropractic care. All three of his children have been under chiropractic care since they were born and continue to receive regular chiropractic adjustments.

Dr. Cherniak’s passion lies with treating families from infants to grandmas and grandpas. His emphasis is on the importance of family care because he truly believes when a family is growing physically, mentally, and spiritually healthy together they are able to express their fullest potential to live and love more profoundly.

What are you most passionate about professionally? Personally?

I am more passionate about treating families and educating patients on why getting adjusted, eating well, and moving well is important in overall health and longevity. I am personally passionate about my kids.

What’s one thing you couldn’t live without?

My children

What’s the biggest proof that you’re good at what you do?

Patients, friends and colleagues will travel 2+ hours to see me to get adjusted in the clinic. I have always developed a following of patient regardless where I have been practicing. Even practicing in different locations patients will follow were ever I am at practicing.

How long have you been working in your field?

I have been practicing as a Chiropractor for 25 years.

What’s your biggest accomplishment?

The biggest accomplishment was getting out of Chiropractic college and starting my own practice as a an independent contractor then one year later opening my own office.

How does your education connect to your professional career? What about personal experiences?

Upon entering Undergraduate school, I was on the pre-med track that changed to human Biology with health sciences emphasis. When I was younger, I was fascinated on how the body worked and I liked checking out anatomy and physiology books out of the library when in grade school. At one time I wanted to be an ophthalmologist because I wore glasses and I wanted to know why and I studied the anatomy and function of the eyes. I also enjoyed exploring the forest preserve streams and lakes for creatures and things and learn their structure and functions. I was the type to have the chemistry set and the microscope exploring new and interesting things.

What problems do you consistently solve for your clients?

I’m good at solving tough cases involving physical complaints that involve pain and altered movements with the techniques I use. I am also good at not only resolving a patients pain due to physical but also assist with the mental/emotional stressors of life.

What are you complimented on most in your work?

My adjusting skills and my kind and empathetic repoire that I develop with the patients

Do you have any family members or pets to include in your bio?

I have 3 children – 21, 18 and 16 years old
