Q&A with Austin
What are you most passionate about professionally? Personally?
Professionally, I am most passionate about serving others and using the knowledge and skills I have acquired in my education to better my patient’s life. Personally, I am passionate about becoming the best version of myself both physically and mentally by staying active and engaged with family and friends.
What three traits define you?
Understanding, Compassionate, Goal-oriented
What are you surprisingly good at?
People are usually surprised when they realize how good I am playing basketball. My devastatingly average height can be quite deceiving.
What’s one thing you couldn’t live without?
I wouldn’t be able to live without my friends or family, they keep me motivated to push myself through anything!
How long have you been working in your field?
I have been working in the exercise/rehab field for a few years. I started when I joined a club in college that allowed me to work with cancer survivors to help them improve their daily lives with corrective exercise. Following college, I worked as a personal trainer helping people reach their goals whether it be functional strength, which helps with daily activities or weight loss/muscle gain.
How does your education connect to your professional career? What about personal experience?
My education in exercise science directly correlates with my professional career as it has taught me the way the body is supposed to work and ways to improve overall function. My personal experience mostly comes from years of consistent weightlifting in the gym. Being able to practice perfect form has allowed me to stay safe and get stronger.
What’s your biggest accomplishment?
My biggest accomplishment so far, has been my six years of military service to the Illinois Army National Guard.
What are you complimented on most in your work?
The main compliments I receive in my work revolves around being patient and understanding to my patients and my ability to use my knowledge to make a true difference in their lives.
Who is your ideal client and why should they connect with you?
My ideal client is someone who understands that I am there to help improve their life. A great client will be trusting in me to put them on a path to success and will take everything I say to heart and do what they can to help themselves in the process.
What do you do for fun in your spare time? What are your hobbies?
I love staying active. Usually, I spend what little free time I have in the gym with some friends. If we aren’t in the gym, then we are playing basketball or somewhere outdoors. As long as I am moving, I’m happy!
