Q&A with Dr. Mader

What are you most passionate about professionally? Personally?

Professionally I am passionate about making an impact on the current healthcare climate in our country – I believe that making integrative medicine accessible to the masses is one of the most important jobs of our lifetime.

Personally I am passionate about healing, growth, and getting outside of my comfort zone. Advancing myself and my future family in terms of emotional intelligence & wellbeing, compassion, making an impact, and creating stability for the generations to come is one of my life’s purposes.

What three traits define you?

Kindhearted, forever student, fierce ambition.

What would you do even if you didn’t get paid to do it?

Teach people to better understand their body.

What are you surprisingly good at?

I can solve a Rubik’s cube in 60 seconds!

What’s one thing you couldn’t live without?

My husband & my sisters (family).

How long have you been working in your field?

I have been a licensed chiropractor for nearly 5 years, but I have been working in integrative health in various roles since 2012.

What’s the biggest proof that you’re good at what you do?

Getting to witness patients make informed & confident health decisions for themselves and their families really highlights to me when I have done a good job educating & supporting my people.

What’s your biggest accomplishment?

Finding, getting comfortable with, and loving myself fully.

What’s the weirdest job you’ve ever had?

I sold Kirby vacuum cleaners door-to-door for approximately a week while in undergrad. I was also a radio personality as my after-school job in high school, including news & weather updates, and have an excellent broadcast voice!

What problems do you consistently solve for your clients?

Finding the answers behind their subset of hormonal symptoms & helping them balance their metabolic & hormone health to decrease symptoms and increase vitality & fertility.

What are you complimented on most in your work?

Colleagues & past coworkers often comment on my ability to take large complex systems and break them down into approachable & easy-to-digest segments that really elevate how I am able to explain what is going on in a patient’s body. I also hear from patients that they truly feel seen, heard, and understood when I spend time listening to their story.

Who is your ideal client and why should they connect with you?

I really enjoy working with women of childbearing age who are struggling to feel good about their body. The work I do always comes from a place of body love & encouraging not just nutrition, supplement, & lifestyle changes but also self-worth & respecting our bodies enough to make these positive changes from a place of love instead of a place of loathing.

Where do you live?

An insanely charming little town smack dab in the middle of Kansas called Lindsborg. If you are a Gilmore Girls fan, then I always say it’s like the Stars Hollow of the Midwest. Growing up, I lived in a small town just an hour away from where I am now and I spent most of my 20’s jumping from city to city saying, “never again,” to the small town life. Now I always say “Lindsborg is the exception.”

Do you have any other passions or personal goals that you would like to share?

My personal goals right now are to continue minimizing clutter in my home with hopes of living minimally, downsizing my home, and streamlining & simplifying my everyday care tasks, so that outside of spending time with patients I am free to do whatever I please instead of burdened with chores & “adulting.”

What do you do for fun in your spare time? What are your hobbies?

I love to read books where I am inspired to do better & be better – sometimes that’s fictional stories, self-improvement books, or clinical research. I am typically reading 3-5 books at a time and pick up whichever speaks to me that day. I also love coffee, my puppy who is a VERY energetic Chesapeake Bay Retriever (think Lab on steroids with an affinity for swimming), baking, lifting weights, soaking in the hot tub, and playing both disc golf & chess with my husband (who almost always beats me at both).

Share something unique that most people don’t know about you.

My parents chose Zoe as my name and my grandfather insisted that it was a little girl’s name, and that I would be someone important, so I must have a more formal name. They landed on ZoAnn to appease my grandfather always with the intention of calling me Zoe!
