Q&A with Dr. Rodela

What are you most passionate about professionally? Personally?

I am most passionate about learning a patient’s history and building a more optimal lifestyle together. Sometimes it can feel overwhelming for patients to begin the process, but that’s what I’m here for. It starts with small steps that lead toward a better place!

What three traits define you?

Personable, dependable, and optimistic.

What would you do even if you didn’t get paid to do it?

I would honestly still do functional medicine! There is nothing quite like building relationships with people and helping them feel better.

What are you surprisingly good at?

I am surprisingly good at being able to relate to anybody. I am very much a people person!

What’s one thing you couldn’t live without?

At this moment in my life, I’d have to say coffee.

What’s the biggest proof that you’re good at what you do?

Patient feedback! Listening to my patients’ transformative health stories is the most rewarding aspect of my career.

How long have you been working in your field?

I have been working in the functional medicine field for 3 years in various clinical settings.

What’s your biggest accomplishment?

Completing two doctorate degrees in a timely manner. There were definitely a couple bumps in the road like, say, a global pandemic!

What’s the weirdest job you’ve ever had?

I worked in retail pharmacy for several years, which definitely had its interesting moments.

How does your education connect to your professional career? What about personal experiences?

My formal education and pharmacy experience help me relate to patients who have a history of bouncing around various doctor offices. On a personal level, I’m a very protective person, so all things combined make me extremely motivated to help individuals find the root cause of their health concerns.

What problems do you consistently solve for your clients?

It always comes down to the underlying factors of their health issues. Sometimes it can feel tedious, but there is always a root cause for disease!

What are you complimented on most in your work?

I am most complimented on my relatability and authenticity. Patients often tell me they have never felt they could open up to a doctor like that can with me. That said, I think that goes for anyone on the Aligned Modern Health team!

Who is your ideal client and why should they connect with you?

My ideal client is anyone who wants to overcome a health concern/issue. Even if someone doesn’t know where to begin, making a first appointment shows me they’re ready to begin their health journey.

In your work or creative process, what concepts are sacred? Which rules have you made, which ones do you follow?

Never, ever, under any circumstances, assume I know the answer before getting all the information. I can’t begin to list the vast amount of factors affecting people’s health, so let’s talk about all of it.

What is your grand, audacious goal? What do you wish people would know, believe, do?

I would absolutely love to generate a platform for spreading awareness about health and wellness. Specifically, how to incorporate wellness concepts into a lifestyle that is actually sustainable.

Where do you live?

I currently live in Naperville, IL.

Do you have any family members or pets to include in your bio?

None at the moment, but I love seeing other people’s fur babies!

Do you have any other passions of personal goals that you would like to share?

Just that I truly want to act as one’s teammate on their health journey. So many people have been cycled through doctors with little to no resolution. At AMH, we strive to build a bond with patients and solve health problems, no matter how complicated.

What do you do for fun in your spare time? What are your hobbies?

Any good functional medicine doctor will highlight the importance of vitamin R. Rest comes in the form of watching a good scary movie, rejuvenation from a night with friends/family, and revitalization from rock climbing!

Share something unique that most people don’t know about you.

That’s a tough one because I am kind of an open book. Most people probably do not know I am an avid reader and originally went to college for an English degree!
