Q&A with Dr. Nicholson

What are you most passionate about professionally? Personally?

I am still an avid learner, a trait I hope never diminishes! I look to become a well-recognized healthcare provider in the Functional Medicine space through evidence-based applications. I also enjoy reading new research that is shaping the healthcare world and topics revolving around functional neurology and Lyme disease.

What three traits define you?

Resilient, Loyal, Resourceful

What would you do even if you didn’t get paid to do it?

As cliche, as it may sound, this is what I would do if I weren’t getting paid to do it. I know firsthand what it feels like to have symptoms that appear on lab tests and you are looking to your healthcare provider. I still keep that as a part of my why for what I do.

What are you surprisingly good at?

Helping people feel heard, being a good listener, and not being judgemental no matter how complex someone presents themselves to be.

What’s one thing you couldn’t live without?

Without a doubt, music! I love music and have a wide range in genres that I love to listen. I was told by my parents that when I wasn’t even old enough to talk I would try to snap my fingers together when listenin to jazz!

How long have you been working in your field?

I have been in this field for nearly 5 years in sectors of kinesiology, functional neurology, and now functional medicine.

What is your biggest accomplishment?

Keeping my car still kicking and in great shape for 23 years!

What is the weirdest job you’ve ever had?

I wouldn’t quite say weird, although it had its moments, was my position as a flight attendant. I have the pleasure of seeing many beautiful places across the world, including South America, Europe, Africa, Canada, and here in the United States. Still, I have some pretty significant landmark moments and sights inflight!

Who is your ideal client and why should they connect with you?

My ideal client is ready to make a committed, collaborative effort in their health. One who is open to educational support and who understands that personalized medicine requires time to resolve.

In your work or creative process, what concepts are sacred? Which rules have you made/followed?

A concept that my mother instilled in me since I was a child is to lead with a kind, compassionate word to others; you never know what they are going through in their life.

What do you do for fun in your spare time? What are your hobbies?

In my spare time love to go to farmer’s markets and visit restaurants, especially farm to tables! As I shared before, I love music I developed that love is through vinyl collecting. I shop local places as well as visit shops when traveling, hoping to find a long sought after item from my wish list. And last but certainly not least, I love watching professional football!

Share something unique that most people don’t know about you.

That I (willingly), jumped out of a plane at 18,000 feet, 10 out of 10 don’t recommend!
