About Dr. Kristal

Dr. Kristal began her nontraditional route to the medical field as an artist, who volunteered as a community sexual health educator. While advocating for HIV awareness and education, she decided that she wanted to attend medical school to help find a cure for the disease.

(Things didn’t go as planned)

In the midst of applying to allopathic medical school, Dr. Kristal began her own personal journey towards health and realized that she didn’t know what health and wellness were. While researching, she came across a magazine article that described 7 different types of doctors and made the decision to attend naturopathic medical school.

Naturopathic medical school deepened her appreciation for holistic approaches and reinforced her belief that food is medicine. Within her practice, Dr. Kristal focuses on nutrition first, along with science-based methods and lifestyle changes to help her patients achieve and maintain optimal health.

She is an expert at sexual health education, naturopathic nutrition, and bridging the gap between conventional medicine and alternative therapies. She specializes in prevention, hormonal imbalances, gastrointestinal disorders, and autoimmune conditions.

Dr. Kristal loves helping her patients make better choices and learn healthy habits to improve their overall health and wellness. She understands the uniqueness of each individual and treats the whole person. What are you most passionate about professionally? Personally?

Professionally: Empowering people to take control of their health. I believe that when people are educated and given the appropriate information along with options, then they have the tools to make a more informed decision and can be successful.

Personally: Learning new things and challenging myself to be “the best version of myself”.

What three traits define you?

Honest. Attentive. Determined

What would you do even if you didn’t get paid to do it?

The same thing that I am doing now. I love teaching and empowering people to be in control of their health.

What are you surprisingly good at?

Keeping house plants alive. I have a plant named “Philomena” who has survived a blizzard, a hurricanes and 2 different time zones.

What’s one thing you couldn’t live without?

MUSIC…music..music

What’s the biggest proof that you’re good at what you do?

My patients’ results. I love the joy, excitement, and expression that patients have when we are seeing improvement.

What’s your biggest accomplishment?

Being dual enrolled in two programs while in medical school and living to tell about it.

Who is your ideal client and why should they connect with you?

I am down to earth and like providing realistic plans to suit an individual’s lifestyle. My ideal client is committed to their health and want to improve their health. They are open and interested in alternative therapies.

Do you have any other passions of personal goals that you would like to share?

I strive to bridge the gap between racial, cultural, and ethnic diversity within health and wellness. I enjoy giving my patient a variety of health related options based on their individuals preference and cultural background.

What do you do for fun in your spare time? What are your hobbies?

I enjoy exploring the city of Chicago, and rummaging at local thrift stores looking for vintage items and vinyls. Depending on the time of year, you may find me relaxing at the lakefront, enjoy coffee at a cafe, or tobogganing at a state park
