About Dr. Rodriguez

Dr. John Rodriguez, DC, graduated with his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Working as a group fitness instructor and youth boxing instructor, his passion for helping individuals lead healthier lifestyles lead him to study chiropractic medicine at the National University of Health Sciences. While in school, he enhanced his education of both human anatomy and advanced imaging, working in both the anatomy laboratory and radiology department alongside faculty. Once completing his clinical internship at the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center in Chicago, Dr. Rodriguez went on to earn his Doctor of Chiropractic degree as the Valedictorian of his graduating class, specializing in the treatment musculoskeletal conditions and postural syndromes.

Throughout his life, Dr. Rodriguez has been an advocate for movement and its relationship to our health. With training from The McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy®, he performs movement assessments on each of his patients to find the primary cause of the symptoms hindering a patient’s daily activities. Dr. Rodriguez recruits each patient as an “at-home provider” of their healthcare, ensuring they become an active part of their recovery to guarantee long term success and prevent pain reoccurrence. By incorporating a holistic viewpoint of the underlying anatomy, Dr. Rodriguez addresses the joint dysfunction, muscular tension, and movement imbalances present to restore an individual’s well-being, and more importantly, the movement that means the most to them.

Whether you are in chronic pain from your work-from-home lifestyle or an avid marathon runner with an acute nagging injury, Dr. Rodriguez is here to help. In his free time, he enjoys martial arts training, hiking, freestyle roller skating, and having game nights with his wife and dog Albus. He is also an adjunct professor teaching anatomy and physiology to students at the University of Illinois at Chicago, educating future healthcare providers on the anatomy his treatment is founded on.

Q&A with Dr. Rodriguez

What are you most passionate about professionally? Personally?

Professionally, I am most passionate about giving patients the tools they need to remain pain free and utilize movement as medicine. Personally, I am most passionate about spending quality time with my family and maintaining the relationships that mean the most to me.

What three traits define you?

Enthusiastic, Empathetic, and Dedicated

What would you do even if you didn’t get paid to do it?

I absolutely love teaching. Sharing knowledge with others who have admirable goals is truly fulfilling, and I am so lucky I get to do so as a chiropractic physician and professor!

What are you surprisingly good at?

I am surprisingly good at freestyle roller skating. Growing up near a roller rink on the south side of Chicago had its perks!

What’s one thing you couldn’t live without?

My family of course! My wife and rescue dog Albus fill my personal life with such joy and adventure. My parents and two sisters remain my biggest support system, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.

What’s the biggest proof you are good at what you do?

The biggest proof I am good at what I do is when a patient can leave the clinic feeling good, moving better, and with a smile on their face. On top of that, family and friend referrals showcase not just the impact my treatment has had, but the trust I have established with my patients.

Whats your biggest accomplishment?

My biggest accomplishment was being awarded Valedictorian of my Doctor of Chiropractic graduating class. Four years of hard work, long study nights, and rigorous manual care training was paid in full, and it is something I am so excited to bring to the Aligned Modern Health community.

What’s the weirdest job you have ever had?

I used to work along the Chicago lakefront washing boats in the summer, and let me tell you, water spiders are not to be messed with!

Who is your ideal client and why should they connect with you?

My ideal client is one that wants to work together to not only eliminate pain, but to establish healthy movement patterns to prevent pain from coming back. I want to encourage anyone reading this in pain and/or limited in their movement to connect. I hope to build a relationship where we put your health first to ensure you can live life to the fullest!
