About Andrew
Andrew Lenz is one of our acupuncturists at the Aligned Modern Health location in Logan Square. Andrew first came into contact with acupuncture after a Neurologist suggested he try it to manage symptoms associated with a nerve disease he developed as a teen. After just a few months of treatment the pain was essentially gone and he knew he had to pursue it as a career to help others in his position. He went on to complete a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at Kansas State University. He then went on to earn his Master of Science in Oriental Medicine from the Pacific College of Health and Science in Chicago.
Andrew has been practicing since 2019 with a specialization in the treatment of pain both acute and chronic. He also has experience with a wide variety of conditions including insomnia, digestive disorders, anxiety, depression, as well as helping patients currently going through chemotherapy and cancer treatment. While in school he completed the coursework to become a diplomat in the Institute of Classics East Asian Medicine.
Q&A with Andrew
What are you most passionate about professionally? Personally?
Professionally I am most passionate about pain treatment and management. My own personal pain condition is what brought me into the field so helping others find a way to live with reduced or no pain is what drives me professionally. Personally I am passionate about cooking. Food is what we are all made of so I take pride in making my own food and am constantly trying new recipes.
What three traits define you?
I am caring, respectful, and hard working
What would you do even if you didn’t get paid to do it?
If money were no object I would still be doing acupuncture to help alleviate the suffering of others
What are you surprisingly good at?
Listening. I love absorbing what others say to learn more about them and their perspectives.
What’s one thing you couldn’t live without?
Tea. I adore the earthy and grassy flavors unique to tea and drink it almost daily.
What’s the biggest proof that you’re good at what you do?
Patients returning happy and continuing to seek me out for care.
How long have you been working in your field?
A little over 4 years
How does your education connect to your professional career? What about personal experiences?
My undergrad was in Kinesiology which provided me with a strong understanding of anatomy and physiology

My friendly and caring attitude
Who is your ideal client and why should they connect with you?
Those suffering from pain. They should connect with me because I am effective at treating pain and am dedicated to helping others.
In your work or creative process, what concepts are sacred? Which rules have you made, which ones do you follow?
Listening to your gut is a common concept I find popping up in my life. A rule I follow personally is if I have a problem, medical or otherwise, that can be solved through natural means it should be.
What is your grand, audacious goal? What do you wish people would know, believe, do?
My grand goal is to get into a position where I can spread awareness of Chinese medicine and the many successes it has had.
I wish people would learn to connect with their bodies better so they can heal better
Where do you live?
I grew up in Overland Park, KS but currently live in Logan Square, Chicago, IL
Do you have any other passions of personal goals that you would like to share?
I am passionate about politics and getting the government to work for the people. I have debated entering politics later in life.
What do you do for fun in your spare time? What are your hobbies?
I love to cook, play video and board games, I play Magic the Gathering when I can, I also love to go on hikes and do yoga in my free time.
Share something unique that most people don’t know about you.
I have never had a piece of gum in my life. Love seeing how people react to hearing that haha.
